Powered by the revolutionary elos Technology, the combination of energies offers a complete solution to the challenges of skin treatment with reduced overall required energy output - enabling safe, effective treatment. Highly selective light energies are absorbed by the hemoglobin and pigmented lesions, but not significantly absorbed by the normal dermis. Electrical energies selectively heat blood vessels - while minimizing the effect on pigmented structure.

What is an Intense Pulsed Light Treatment?
This laser emits an intense pulsed light, which penetrates the skin to a depth of about 1-2mm (less than 1/8 of an inch). The beam of light heats up and coagulates blood vessels and other colored structures (melanin) in the skin. As the light pulse targets the destruction of the vessel or pigment, it causes minimal affects of the skin surface. Damaged vessels and/or pigment are then absorbed by the body, rendering them less visible.

Are There Any Contraindications to Being Treated With The Laser?
Contraindications may include the use of medications that increase photosensitivity, uncontrolled diabetes, history of keloid scarring, use of anticoagulants/blood thinners, or a history of bleeding disorders.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments to effectively remove facial vessels, freckles, or leg veins may vary from an average of 1 to 5 treatments. Some clients may require more or less procedures, depending on one’s individual response. Multiple treatments are usually recommended over several months with gradual clearing occurring over that time.

What Will I Look Like Right After The Treatment And What Will The Healing Time Be Like?
For facial vessels, generally, the skin looks slightly sunburned and may be slightly swollen after the treatment for up to 2-5 days. Occasionally, there is bruising, which can take up to two weeks to resolve. Makeup can be used starting right after treatment, as long as it is applied and removed very gently. Vessels usually take 3-6 weeks to clear.

For freckles, age spots, the lesions generally look darker for several days. Crusting may then occur, which can last up to two weeks. The lesions will then begin to clear and will generally be resolved within 4-6 weeks. Remember, it may take multiple treatments to clear pigmented spots.

For leg veins, some immediate improvement is typically visible with a warm sunburn feeling that may be experienced right after treatment. Bruising, blotches and/or blemishes may be noticeable and usually disappear over 2 to 3 weeks. Some muscle soreness may be experienced after treatment sessions.

Do I Need To Do Anything Special Before Treatment?
Please do not take any Aspirin, Advil/Ibuprofen, or Aleeve for one week prior to treatment for facial vessels and leg veins, as it may cause you to bruise. During and after the treatment sessions, plan to stay out of the sun or use a hat and sunscreens with a high SPF UVA/UVB.

What Are The Possible Side Effects Of An Intense Pulsed Light Treatment?
Although it is impossible to list every potential risk and complication, the potential complications could include, but are not limited to, the following items:

  • Discomfort Some people feel discomfort during the treatment. There may be a burning sensation, which last for an hour or two. Topical numbing cream can be applied to decrease your discomfort
  • Blister There is always a slight possibility of developing a crust, scab, or blister. This is superficial and generally does not result in any scarring and is treated like a sunburn, or any other blister.
  • Pigment changes The treated area will probably heal without any pigment changes; however, there is always a chance that darker or lighter areas may occur. These are usually temporary and will fade within 1-6 months. Sun exposure must be avoided if a darker spot occurs, as that may intensify the hyper-pigmentation. Skin lightener cream is available should this occur. It is rare that a change is permanent.
  • Scarring is very rare and it is important to follow all the post-treatment instructions carefully.
  • Swelling may occur immediately after treatment, especially on the face. This is temporary and not harmful.
  • Fragile skin. Skin that has been treated should be cared for gently for several days. It should not be rubbed.
  • Bruising may or may not occur. This will generally clear up within 1-2 weeks.
Some leg veins and vascular lesions may respond only partially, or not at all.
Occasionally, while treating over an area with hair, there may be an occurrence of temporary or permanent hair loss.
Since every client is an individual, we cannot guarantee that you will respond exactly the way other clients do. We also cannot guarantee that you will be completely happy with the effects of treatment.
